David Drummond

Senior Tax Counsel

David Drummond is Senior Tax Counsel at Hazan Hollander. David qualified with Bachelor of Economics ( 1980) and Bachelor of Laws (1982) degrees from the Australian National University. He completed a Master of Laws (Taxation) at the University of Sydney in 1989. He is admitted to practice as a solicitor in the Supreme Court of NSW.

David was a Tax Partner of KPMG  for over 20 years.  As the leader of Tax Risk Management Services in KPMG Australia, David liaised regularly on behalf of KPMG with the Senior Executive Officers of the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) responsible for the ATO Annual Compliance Program since its inception in 2002.

David has had extensive experience in managing ATO Risk Reviews and Audits on behalf of clients during his more than 35 years as a Tax Adviser to Listed Public Companies Multinationals and High Net Worth Individuals.  He has negotiated numerous settlements of contentious issues involving the application of Australian general anti-avoidance provisions, including resolution of disputes under the Competent Authority jurisdiction of Double Tax Agreement with the United States and Germany.

David’s knowledge and experience can result in beneficial solutions to what may otherwise appear impossible before his involvement.
